About
Bob Martens holds an M.Sc. in Building Science from Eindhoven University of Technology (The Netherlands) and Dr.Sc.Tech. from Vienna University of Technology. He is appointed as an associate professor at Vienna University of Technology and teaches spatial simulation and (computer-aided) architectural design.
Professor Martens has been involved in review activities for all world-wide CAAD-associations and has published over 150 conference and journal papers. Research activities cover also virtual reconstruction of Viennese Synagogues as well as study projects in the area of full-scale modeling and architectural endoscopy. His current research interest is focussing on Electronic Publishing and Knowledge Management. In the framework of the SciX-project (EU-IST-programme, http://www.scix.net) he is responsible for content acquisition. Further development of CUMINCAD (Cumulative Index on CAD - http://cumincad.scix.net) belongs to the major achievements of this project.
His presidency of eCAADe / education in CAAD in Europe (1997-2001, after this member of the executive committee) lead to well-established contacts with CAAD-associations and individual researchers. Professor Martens was furthermore acting as the Conference Chair for IAPS 2004, CAAD futures 2005 and ELPUB 2007 (hosted at Vienna University of Technology).
Since March 2005 he is also acting as the Vice-Dean for Continuing Education at TU Wien. Appointment as member in the Continental European Standards Board of the RICS in December 2006.
